Remotely Founders

Community Guidelines

A better room works when everyone helps shape it.

Welcome to Remotely Founders. We're glad you're here. These guidelines are here to keep the community respectful, useful, and genuinely supportive for remote-first entrepreneurs and business owners.

1

Be Respectful and Inclusive

We're all here to learn, share, and grow. Treat everyone with respect, celebrate our differences, and create an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome. That means being considerate of other perspectives, using respectful language, and keeping discussions productive.

Quick tip

Before posting, ask yourself, "Is this helpful? Is this respectful?"

2

Collaborate, Don't Compete

This community is all about building each other up. Share insights, offer help, and engage in conversations that add value to others. Here, we believe in collaboration over competition.

Quick tip

If you see someone asking for advice in an area you know well, jump in. Your experience could be invaluable to them.

3

Share Thoughtfully

We love learning from each other, and part of that is sharing resources, stories, and insights. Keep things on-topic, relevant, and concise. If you're sharing a tool, link, or tip, give a quick reason why you think it's valuable for remote-first founders.

Quick tip

When sharing a resource, add a sentence on why you find it helpful. It helps others understand the context and value.

4

Limit Self-Promotion

We want this community to be a place for genuine interactions. It's totally fine to mention your business when it's relevant, but no direct promotions, ads, or unsolicited DMs, please. Let's keep this space free of sales pitches and focused on connection.

Quick tip

If you want to share a personal win, tell us what you learned from it. Also, don't forget to use our #self-promotion channel.

5

Keep Slack Organized

Our main communication is on Slack, so let's keep it easy for everyone to navigate. Use threads to keep conversations organized, start in #introductions if you're new, use #founder-questions for advice, and use #general-chat for casual conversation.

Quick tip

Label messages clearly if you're asking for feedback, sharing a resource, or celebrating a win. This keeps things organized and easy to follow.

6

Respect Everyone's Time

We're all busy building our businesses, so let's keep things concise and intentional. Before tagging everyone or sending a direct message, ask yourself if it's the best way to communicate. Aim to be mindful of other members' schedules, especially if they're in different time zones.

Quick tip

If a message is not urgent, avoid tagging "@channel" or "@here." Respecting notification preferences makes Slack a better experience for everyone.

7

Feedback Is a Gift

We encourage constructive feedback, whether you're giving or receiving it. When offering feedback, keep it kind, specific, and actionable. If someone gives you feedback, appreciate it as a way to grow, not as a critique.

Quick tip

Use the "Sandwich Method" for feedback: start with something positive, offer your suggestion, and end on a supportive note.

8

Respect Privacy and Confidentiality

What's shared in Remotely Founders stays in Remotely Founders. Don't share other members' posts, ideas, or stories outside the community without permission. This is a safe space for people to be open about challenges and wins, and we want to keep it that way.

Quick tip

If you'd like to quote or share something from the community, ask the member first.

9

Ask Questions and Share Your Wins

We want to hear from you. This community is here to support you, so don't hesitate to ask for advice, share your achievements, or celebrate milestones. Your success is a win for all of us, and your questions help others who may be wondering the same things.

Quick tip

Use the #ask-for-help or #wins channels to engage with the community. Others will be excited to celebrate with you or lend a hand.

Thank you
